How to spay putty / plaster with airless paint sprayer?
Some sprayable putties and fine fillers can be applied with suitable high-output airless spray equipment; coarse plaster or mortar may require a different pumping and spray system. The material’s instructions decide the application method. A high maximum pressure alone does not establish compatibility.
Confirm what “putty” means for your product
Names vary between markets. Premixed finishing compound, gypsum plaster, cement render and aggregate-filled texture can have very different particle sizes and flow behaviour. Obtain the technical data sheet and check approved spraying methods, maximum aggregate size, required tip or nozzle, filtration, water addition and working time.
If the material requires compressed air at a mortar lance, do not route it through an ordinary paint gun and small airless tip. Read how plastering machines and spray lances work to distinguish the systems.
Select capacity under real conditions
Match the pump, hose bore and length, gun passage and tip to the material. Fine filler can require substantially more delivery than wall paint. Check service limits and wear-part availability for abrasive products. The DP-9600E electric hydraulic sprayer is a model to evaluate against those requirements, not a guarantee for every plaster formulation.
Prepare the substrate and mix
- Remove loose material, contamination and weak coatings. Repair the substrate as the coating system requires.
- Apply the prescribed primer or absorption treatment. Do not wet every wall by default; moisture requirements depend on substrate and material.
- Mix using the specified water quantity, mixing time and any rest-and-remix period. Do not invent a universal two-minute standing time.
- Keep batches consistent and within their usable working time. Adding water to setting material is not a reliable way to restore it.
Apply, level and verify
Make a test area first. Establish the recommended distance, output and pass overlap, then work in manageable sections. Check thickness against the product limit. Spraying does not remove the need for trowelling, levelling, sanding or curing when those steps form part of the finish system.
for some material which is very thick and can’t be sprayed, you should choose the rotor stator screw pump to apply it, or our perastaltic pump could apply the heavy material also.
When delivery becomes uneven
Check supply, consistency, filters, hose routing and tip condition. Do not keep raising pressure against a blockage or remove filtration without approval. Stop, isolate and relieve pressure using the machine procedure before servicing. Never loosen a pressurised coupling.
Clean the entire fluid path before the filler sets. Confirm drying and recoating conditions from the material instructions rather than using a fixed number of hours or days. Judge productivity over the whole job, including preparation, finishing and cleaning; no universal speed multiplier applies.
